Our Mission
The Florence Beautification Board serves to enrich the quality of life in the City of Florence by recognizing businesses and other local entities for outstanding landscape design and enhancements to their properties and by sponsoring programs and activities to beautify the City and to raise awareness about the best practices for the urban landscape.
- To act in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council in matters relating to public improvements and beautification of the City of Florence.
- To promote and initiate public interest in the general improvement of the appearance of the City through various programs and activities,
- To assist businesses, organizations, public bodies, and individuals in their requests for beautification action and measures, and
- To grant beautification awards or letters of recognition to businesses, organizations, public bodies, and individuals for their outstanding landscape designs.
Our Members
Crape Myrtle
The crapemyrtle was adopted as the official flower of Florence, Alabama on March 1, 2000. As a result, the Florence Beautification Board has encouraged citizens and businesses alike to plant and nurture the crapemyrtle in their landscape.

On Tuesday, April 7th, Beautification Board member River Zurinsky accepted the document proclaiming April as Autism Awareness Month from Mayor Ron Tyler.
Also in attendance was Beautification Board vice chair Alisha Haataja.

REMINDER
The City of Florence Tree Commission and the Florence Beautification Board will host the 29th Annual Urban Forestry and Horticulture Conference 2026, themed, "Roots of Resilience: Creating Livable Communities Through Healthy Landscapes."
The conference will be held at Cross Point Church of Christ, 1350 Cox Creek Parkway, Friday, March 6, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Expert guest speakers from across the Southeast will cover a variety of topics including those related to how quality of life and biodiversity in our communities is impacted by healthy urban forests and native plant landscapes and various ways citizens may be involved.
Lunch and snacks for registered attendees are included in the admission cost. Lunch will be provided by Cafe 222 at noon. The event also features local-vendor displays and two drawings for door prizes, at noon and at 3:45 pm.
Pre Registered cost is $50.00. Late registration is accepted at the door on the day of the conference and is $55.00.
