Brownfield Grant Information

index.1

EPA's Brownfields Program is designed to empower states, communities, and other stakeholders in economic redevelopment to work together in a timely manner to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields.

A brownfield is a property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminants.

EPA has selected the City of Florence for two brownfields assessment grants. Hazardous sub-stances grant funds will be used to inventory sites and conduct about 20 Phase I and 10 Phase II environmental site assessments within the Sweetwater Arts and Entertainment District. Petroleum grant funds will be used to inventory sites and conduct about 25 Phase I and 12 Phase II environmental site assessments within the District. Grant funds also will be used to support community outreach activities.
