Specifications for Residential Pickup in the City of Florence

Residential garbage collection is $ 20.00 per month for one day per week collection in carts provided by the City. Residential Recycling is also covered under this monthly fee.  

Garbage must be in the dark green cart provided by the city.  Place the cart curbside or at other Solid Waste Department approved location by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Please do not place it within 3-feet of any obstruction such as a mailbox, vehicle, or tree.  The handle and wheels should be toward your yard, and the metal bar should face the street. 

Garbage and recycling carts should be removed from the street to a designated storage area near the residence after pickup. Carts may not be stored at the curbside.

Residents must maintain the cleanliness of their cart.  Bagging all wastes to helps maintain cleanliness.  Overloading and excessively hot materials will damage carts. If your cart is damaged beyond repair, you will be held responsible and must pay the cost of a replacement.  Carts are the property of the City of Florence and will stay with the home in the event that the resident moves.

Carts are available in 3 sizes: 96-gallons, 64-gallons, and 32-gallons. You are allowed to have up to three 96-gallon carts for a refundable deposit of $41.00 each. 

Garbage service is provided weekly.  A holiday schedule is listed in the column on the left showing these holidays and when missed collection will be made up.

The Solid Waste Department will pick up dead animals that are placed curbside but will not come on private property for them.

The City of Florence does not pick up liquids, paints, or other hazardous materials.  Also, special precautions must be taken for the disposal of medical wastes.  Please contact this office or the Florence Police Department for proper disposal of these materials.
