Leaf Collection:

LEAF COLLECTION NOTICE 4-11-2018:  You may request that your loose leaves be vacuumed by calling the Street Department at 256-760-6460 before Friday, April 13, 2018.  After that date vacuum trucks will not longer be running and loose leaves must be bagged for removal.

The City provides a seasonal loose leaf collection for leaves raked into a windrow or piled at the curb in residential areas.Leaves must be bagged and placed at the curb for pickup during regular curbside collection.  Trucks vacuum leaves from the curbside Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The loose leaf collection program will begin October 30, 2017, and will operate on a route system like it has done in the previous years.  This is the most efficient and equitable way for leaf collection.  The route will be posted on this page of the city website and Facebook; it will be updated weekly showing the most recently worked areas.  The earlier leaves are raked, the quicker they will be picked up.

Leaf Collection Tips:

Rake leaves to the edge of your yard near the curb, but away from any obstacles such as trees, fences, or mailboxes.

Keep these piles free of limbs and other trash which can damage the vacuum hoses and slow progress.

Please avoid piling raked leaves on top of your water meter because this prevents meter readers from getting an accurate reading.

Please avoid placing raked leaves in the road gutters as this can cause flooding.

Only piled leaves will be collected until January.  Curb and gutter will be vacuumed after the majority of leaves have been collected. Bagged leaves and other curbside trash will continue to be picked up weekly.

Do not park cars too close to leaf piles, this prevents collection.
