Building Department   Business Development / One Stop Shop  
Browse information about building and safety requirements and codes as well as services designed to help citizens with their building and safety issues.   The Business Development/One Stop Shop program is helpful and easy to use.  You will be able to receive all of the City of Florence service information you need to develop, expand and start a business.  This "One-Stop Shop" removes the legwork for our business clients by providing one point of contact for assistance and information.  
Cemetery Department   City Attorney

City Clerk   Electricity Department  
The City Clerk's Office is responsible for municipal election services, business license renewal, as well as maintaining and preserving historical and official records.   Our goal is to provide safe, reliable electrical service at the lowest feasible cost to the residents of Florence and Lauderdale County.  We are committed to quickly and pleasantly addressing customer questions or concerns.  We maintain a 24 hour a day dispatch center to quickly respond to unexpected outages.  
Emergency Management Agency   Engineering  
Most emergencies or disasters are handled at the local level without State or Federal assistance, and although Florence-Lauderdale EMA is best known for its assistance and preparedness programs, emergency management is so much more   Our Engineering Department provides municipal engineering services, including planning, design and construction of roadways, bridges, sanitary sewers and drainage.  
Fire Department   Florence-Lauderdale E-911  
Florence Fire Rescue proudly provides the finest fire protection, rescue, hazardous materials control and emergency medical response to the citizens of Florence.  We operate from five (5) locations throughout the city.   E-911 is typically your initial emergency contact in Florence & Lauderdale County, providing life-saving assistance over the phone while dispatching the necessary first responders to your emergency.  We provide this public service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.  
Florence Utilities Gas & Water   General Fund Accounting  
Our Gas & Water Department provides residents with a natural gas, high-pressure distribution system to meet the needs of our residents.  Our Water Department is committed to our customers and to the protection of public health through quality water and wastewater management.   The General Fund Accounting Department maintains  the financial records of the City and prepares financial and statistical data applicable to all funds of the City of Florence.

Insurance & Safety   Municipal Court  
Responsible for the City's insurance, as well as handling claims against the city.   The Florence Municipal Court handles all misdemeanors occurring within the Florence City Limits.  Court is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and every third Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.  
Parks and Recreation   Planning and Community Development

Police Department   Purchasing Department  
The Florence Police Department provides protection & safety to more than 40,000 residents of Florence.  We are committed to the philosophy of Community Policing.  This allows are citizen's to partner with us in reaching our goal of making Florence and the Shoals one of the safest areas in the nation.   The Purchasing Department directs purchasing and enforces purchasing policies for all City procurement.  The department also advertises and receives bids per State and Federal Government rules and regulations.  
Recycling Department   Solid Waste Department  
Residential recycling is offered curbside throughout the city on a weekly basis.  Residents may place their recyclables for weekly pickup on the same day they put their garbage out for pickup.   The Solid Waste Department provides residential and commercial garbage collection within the corporate city limits.  
Street Department   Urban Forestry  
The Street Department is responsible for the construction, repair and maintenance of streets, alleys and right-of-ways.  They also maintain the department vehicles and provide curbside programs for collection of household trash and yard debris.   The Urban Forestry Department oversees the City's landscaping needs, tree planting programs and renewal of the older, urban trees.
