Alcohol Sales

Any applicant wishing to engage in the sale of alcohol will be required to fill out an
application online or in the Florence City Clerk’s office ($25.00 fee) which will include a
background check. The application will be presented before the Florence City Council
for approval. Applicant must also seek approval from the Alabama Beverage Control
Board. Once all requirements have been met and all approvals have been issued,
applicant can then purchase City of Florence alcohol license. City of Florence alcohol
licenses are non-transferrable.

Breweries

Any applicant wishing to open a brewery must have Federal Approval from the Alcohol
and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.

Car Dealers

All car dealers, upon initial application, are required to produce Regulatory License from
Alabama Department of Revenue: Motor Vehicle Division.

Contractors

Any contractor governed by a State Board (HVAC, GC, Home Builders, Gas &
Plumbing, Commercial Refrigeration, etc.) must produce a current card/license from that
specific board.

Cosmetology

Any cosmetologist, upon initial application, is required to produce their certification from
the State Board of Cosmetology.

Landscaping

Anyone doing landscaping is required to have certification from the Alabama Department
of Agriculture. If there is any question on behalf of the applicant as to if they are
required to hold the State certification, they should call 1-334-240-7240.

Pest Control Services

Any pest control service, upon initial application, is required to produce a certificate from the Alabama State Board of Agriculture.

Taxi Cab

Taxi services, upon initial application, are required to produce $30,000 in liability
insurance & a public service commission license.

Investigation Services/Security Guard & Patrol Services

Both classifications require police department approval & a $2,500 bond.

Health Department Permits are REQUIRED for the following classifications, upon inital application(s):

  • Tattoo Parlors
  • Grocery Stores
  • Restaurants
  • Convenience Stores engaging in on-site food preparation.
