Recycling Department

Residential recycling is offered curbside throughout the city on a weekly basis. Residents may place their recyclables curbside for weekly pickup on the normal day they put their garbage out.

The Street Department is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, alleys, and rights-of-way. They also maintain the department vehicles and provide curbside programs for the collection of household trash and yard debris.

Promoting Environmentally Friendly Business. The City of Florence began curbside recycling service in 1988. We are proud to have one of the oldest recycling programs in Alabama.

The Solid Waste Department provides residential and commercial garbage collection within the corporate city limits.

Street Department

The Street Department is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, alleys, and rights-of-way. They also maintain the department vehicles and provide curbside programs for the collection of household trash and yard debris.

Adopt A Street

Businesses, groups and/or individuals can adopt a city street pledging to keep approximately one-mile of roadway litter free for a two-year period. The city provides supplies—garbage bags, gloves, gloves, and vests. Adoptees pick up trash and place it in their garbage carts.

As we finish leaf co

As we finish leaf collection season, please be aware of sticks, rocks, garden tools, and other heavy items in leaf piles. Vacuum trucks are great at collecting leaves, but other items hidden in piles can cause costly, time-consuming damage.

Register your group or as an individual, and we will provide supplies so you can clean the area of your choice on the date that works best for you.

You can join the City employees for cleanup day on March 7 from 8 AM to 12 PM by meeting us at the Florence Coliseum, 702 Veterans Drive.
