Competition Play and Age Groups

The Florence Parks and Recreation Program operates under the rules of AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization), with groups divided by age for competition play.

Age Groups:

U6 (4-5 years old):

• Learn fundamentals in a supportive team environment.
• Play on a 15 X 30 Field with smaller rosters for increased participation.
• Score not kept; coaches control the game.

U8 (6-7 years old):

• Continue learning basics with the introduction of new concepts.
• Field size increase; referee introduced.

U10 (8-9 years old) and U12 (10-11 years old):

• Build on fundamentals with new tactics and positions introduced.
• Full application of all rules, including goalies and offsides.
• Postseason playoffs to encourage healthy competition.

U14 (12-13 years old):

• Highest level with full field 11v11 soccer.
• Officiated by a 3-person referee crew.

Coach Safely Training

To ensure a safe and positive experience, all coaches must complete the Coach Safely Training Coursework. This commitment enhances the quality of coaching and promotes a positive sporting atmosphere.
